ConCarolinas was AMAZING!
This was my first time at the convention. Instead of driving in with a van full of books, I flew. I wanted to hang out with friends and be on as many panels as I could. And the weird part? I had a hotel room to myself. That never happens at conventions! (I may have spread out just a bit…)
Because I wasn’t vending, I spent a lot of time with my friend and Master Stained Glass Artisan Leia Powell. If you aren’t following her on Facebook, you should be. She is one of the most talented women that I know. I was her booth bitch when I wasn’t on panels and learned soooo much about the craft. My daughter even went shopping via FaceTime before Leia opened for sales and added two more items to her collection. She loves Leia’s work.

I may have added a few new pieces to my own collection as well. I finally got my hands on “Just a swinging”. Pic below!

But it wasn’t all stained glass. I was on some great panels, talking about my favorite genre: fantasy! From writing characters that don’t look like you, to myths and folk talks, and religion in science fiction and fantasy. I met tons of authors and readers. This was an epic convention and defiantly one that I want to come back to soon.
For me, the best part of conventions is seeing my con family, and one of the highlights is always seeing Dino. He is one of those people that lives to hype up and support authors, artists and creatives. His epic encyclopedia has been signed by the likes of Robert Jordan, Anne Rice, Brandon Sanderson and many more famous names but now he collects signatures from the indie authors that he meets at conventions. It was my honor and great privilege to sign his encyclopedia at ConCarolinas (I almost cried).

This was a really great convention. 12/10, can’t wait to come back.
